Kotlin Developer

Nederland, Utrecht, UtrechtSoftware

Functieomschrijving

As one of the fastest growing programming languages Kotlin is used or on the roadmap of the big majority of our customers. The biggest advantage of that programming language is the fact that it interacts nicely with the JVM ecosystem - this is an opportunity for clients to modernize their codebase and use a modern and compact code instead of or in addition to the (25+years old) Java. The code is more compact and expressive so it’s not a surprise that many of the Kotlin features are slowly finding their way into other languages.

We are one of the proud Community Sponsors of the Dutch Kotlin User Group (www.kotlin.nl) - we believe in Kotlin since its beginning and we support developers by organizing Kotlin workshops, meetups, and trainings.

Sourcelabs is a high-quality consultancy company that was founded for developers by developers. Happy developers make a high impact,  that's why we value a good work-life balance, support employee vitality, and invest a lot in professional development and growth.

By joining Sourcelabs you will join a team with developers just like you: passionate about technology, hungry to learn and experiment with different tools and frameworks, and driven to deliver the best possible solutions for our customers

What you will do:

  • Use your expertise in software development to join client teams and work on their software challenges (ranging from modernization of the codebase to building microservices from scratch, assisting with architecture design, or acting as Scrum Master for internal client teams). It’s up to you to tell us what kind of project will make you happy!

  • Build your personal development plan together with Jarno and Stephan (certifications, trainings, conferences)

  • Work on own projects ½ day per month during the internal ‘half meetup day’

  • Prepare or participate in the monthly internal meetups with a focus on a technical challenge (https://www.sourcelabs.nl/blog) every last Friday of the month

  • Challenge Sourcelabs colleagues at FIFA, scrabble, padel, and water skiing (to name a few examples) during quarterly outings

Vereisten

  • At least 3 - 5 years of experience as a software engineer within the JVM ecosystem
  • Having worked with Kotlin is a big plus, but we are more than happy to teach you everything you need to know about Kotlin!

  • Solid Software Engineering basis backed up with a degree: Bachelor or Master

  • Experience with well-known frameworks within the Java ecosystem, such as Spring Boot, Jakarta EE, Micronaut, Quarkus, etc.

  • Experience working with Microservices or event-driven architectures, APIs, REST

  • Familiar with Cloud technologies like Kubernetes, AWS, GCP or Azure

  • Strong interest in developing yourself and sharing knowledge (as a Sourcelabs employee you will be a co-creator of meetups!)

..but above all, we are looking for a fine colleague and someone who is eager to learn and grow with us!

Sourcelabs is a high-quality consultancy company that was founded for developers by developers. We believe that happy developers make a high impact. That's why we value a good work-life balance, support employee vitality, and invest a lot in professional development and growth.   Our clients appreciate our deep expertise and know they can count on us to tackle complex and technically challenging projects. How? Because we keep being curious, we question the status quo and we keep investing in our technical skills. It's during Sourcelabs internal meetups that we experimented with new technologies like Dapr,  GraphQL, Serverless, Kafka, Machine Learning, Game Development, creating your own Chrome extension, or (yep) working with 'no code' platforms. Because… why not? We constantly want to learn and grow - maybe on the next project one of these technologies will be used.
